ada Norah JOnes sihhh.. dueto… guest tuk lagu Virginia Moon
ada lagu tribute tok Kurt…Friend of A Friend, dinyanyikan secara unplugged dan singing cam Cobain, originally terakam dlm Melody Maker: Steve Lamacq's Bootleg Session, perhatikan liriknya:
he needs a quiet room/with a lock to keep him/in its just a quiet room/and hes there/he plays an old guitar/with a coin found by the phone/it was his friends guitar/ that he played/hmm mmm mmm
hes never been in love/ but he knows just what love is/ he says nevermind/ and no one speaks/ he thinks he drinks too much/cause when he tells his two best friends/i think i drink too much/ no one speaks/ no one speaks/ no one speaks hmm hmm mmm mmm mmm hmm hmm mmm
With the releases of There Is Nothing Left To Lose and One By One, it became readily apparent that the Foo Fighters' warring artistic impulses were diminishing the quality of their product. Where the classic The Colour and the Shape had swayed effortlessly between vigor and sensitivity, the band's past two releases had spent far too much time getting stuck in between, producing hosts of songs that satisfied neither impulse. The remedy for this problem is In Your Honor, a 2-disc set, one album that's the Foos' hardest-hitting in years, and a second, acoustic disc that's among the most touching material of the band's career. The formula works brilliantly, forgiving a few small falters in execution at points.
Beginning with the electric disc, the listener is treated to rock that's more gritty, dynamic and downright rocking than the Foos' last two albums combined. The songs aren't all-out screamfests, nor the polished token rockers that have occasionally surfaced recently. Instead, the band puts together ten raw, dynamic tracks that cover all kinds of terrain. The opener, “In Your Honor,” provides a sweeping, epic feeling even as it keeps its rock instincts down to the basics. Vocalist Dave Grohl cries out “Mine is yours and yours is mine / There is no divide / In your honor, I would die tonight / For you to feel alive,” leading into a well-paced instrumental buildup that ends in a near-cacaphonic breakdown. The track sets the table for the rock disc perfectly, as the material to follow is just as gritty and hard-hitting.
“Free Me” isn't all pumping guitars and screams, but it builds expertly into a crescendo of a chorus, with exploding instrumentals Grohl screaming “Free me,” somewhat reminiscent of the hit “Monkey Wrench” at points. But the track also builds up with calculated, quiet verses that give it an expertly moody feel even as the song is most definitely rock. Even on the electric disc, not all of the high points are noisy — the lead single “Best Of You” is more of a mid-tempo alt-rocker, and a successful one at that, even while it sounds like a part of the whole CD. And “DOA” works in more fine dynamics, with Grohl focusing more on melodics than wails in a nonetheless head-bobbing tune.
The only tunes that really falter here are two of the closers, “Resolve” and “End Over End,” which get trapped in the middle of the road volume-wise, succeeding at neither energy nor moodiness. In the former song especially, the lack of dynamics makes the experience a skippable one after a few listens. Fortunately, the album as a whole is bouyed by even more solid rockers, from the bitter send-off of “The Last Song” to the poppier energy of “No Way Back.”
Coming in from a whole different perspective is the album's acoustic disc, a more calm, experimental experience where Grohl and company give wing to their more creative impulses. Where the first disc is gritty, unpolished and raw, the second opts for a more refined approach. On the disc's opener, “Still,” a piano holds up the bass line beneath a slow-picked guitar and Grohl's subtly intoned vocals of loss. The song is far from upbeat, but casts a mood immediately to differentiate itself from its electric counterparts.
The disc is clearly a chance for Grohl to do his experimentation and set it fully apart from his basic rock 'n' roll impulses, an approach that benefits both sides. On this acoustic disc, the listener is treated to an impressive variety of genres and instrumentation. Folksy touches, for example, adorn the quiet “What If I Do?” as well as the less-impressive duo of “Another Round” and “Friend of a Friend” (the latter being either autobiographical or a tale of Kurt Cobain).
But aside from two small misfires, the disc is loaded with eminently re-playable content. Norah Jones makes a surprisingly smooth guest appearance on “Virginia Moon,” a touching, relaxing track of romance. “Over and Out” and “On The Mend” are spellbinding mood-casters, working in string arrangements, light tribal percussion and more as Grohl croons beautifully throughout. And “Miracle” isn't the most attention-grabbing tune on the disc, but it works the piano and strings back in with an adequate melodic hook.
All in all, the Foo Fighters benefit tremendously on In Your Honor by dividing the warring artistic impulses that had slowly sucked their work to the middle for a few years. The rock disc is more consistent, gritty and authentic than even the best of the Foo Fighters' rock tracks in recent years, and the varied, interesting acoustic disc is more experimental and bare-bones than a middle-of-the-road alternative rock platform would ever allow. By splitting the two impulses, each comes across more authentically, and the Foo Fighters wind up with their strongest outing since The Colour and the Shape, with something for nearly every music lover to appreciate.

Diambil sempena Flying Object Observer Fighters, kapal peronda objek UFO..
Nate Mendel dan William Goldsmith dari band Suny Day Real Estate asal meninggalkan Grohl untuk album pop paling dahsyat 1998, The Color, The Shape.. Monkey Wrench, Everlong, My Hero dan Walking After You.
There is Nothing Left to Lose keluaran 2002 bersama line up yang baru dan fresh, three- piece.. mencadangkan kedewasaan Grohl dengan lagu2 yang lebih radio-friendly, AOR dan slow. Highlights dari album ini ialah Ain't It A Life, Learn to Fly, Generator, Aurora, Next Year, dan Breakout.
Sementara peminat baru terujah dengan One by One pada 2002, aku dah mula bosan dengan sound band ini dan agak kecewa walaupun masih ada lagu yang hebat seperti Time Like These, Low dan I will Come back…
Band ini tetap aktif mengerjakan lagu untuk runut bunyi (soundtrack) filem2 remaja US sekalipun tanpa album pada tahun- tahun senggang… tak dilupakan projek Probot Grohl bersama wira2 metal pujaan beliau pada tahun lepas. Juga kontribusi beliau untuk band Queens of The Stone Age..
Opening dia mmg masyuk ahhhh… korang usha website dia http://foofighters.com/bw/discog.php klik kat the music.. try lagu2 kat segmen FOO PLAYER… tapi pendek2 aa ahahaa…
